EBCAP Head Start are currently looking for eligible 3-5 years old children for their Tiverton classroom, located at 1048 Stafford Road, Tiverton. Good Morning Pocasset Families, Thursday is our first day of school! We at Pocasset are so excited to begin this new year's journey with all of you! First, I'd like to thank everyone who attended our Pocasset Welcome Back to School Play Date on Monday night. It was wonderful seeing all of our Pocasset friends again and meeting our newest students and families! For Thursday, please have your child bring their backpack, materials, and lunch or be prepared to order lunch. Morning Drop Off occurs in 2 places: 1. Bus riders - the Bus Loop along Garden Heights - which is a "no car zone" (only buses) for student safety; and 2. Walkers/Car riders - White Gym Door #1 which will be opened by PE teacher Mr. Reid beginning at 8:40 am. If you arrive late (which is after the bell rings at 8:52 am) please have your child enter school through our Main Office. PreK will enter through our Main Office doors. Afternoon Walker Pick-Up Occurs at 3:21 pm at 3 places: PreK will exit via our Main Office; K & 1 Walker students will be picked up at our Gym Door #1 (same door as arrival) with the line forming along the sidewalk from the Gym Door to the Main Office/Library; Bus Riders will enter buses through our Bus Road along Garden Heights - again, this is a "no car zone" only buses for student safety. Grades 2-4 Walker students will be picked up at the Back White door which faces the Baseball field. For ALL Walkers - the person picking up your child MUST be listed as an emergency contact AND have a photo ID. No exceptions - this is for your child's safety. We will not be releasing students to adults without a photo ID or not listed as an approved emergency contact. Pocasset Open House: A wonderful part of the elementary experience is having your child during Open House bring you to their classroom and introduce you to their teacher and other teachers/staff members. This year, our Open House will be held on Tuesday, September 12th. Since parking is an issue, Open House will be from 6-6:30 pm for students with last names beginning with A-L and Open House will be from 6:30-7:00 pm for students with last names beginning with M-Z. Good Evening Pocasset Families, Please see the August/September Lunch menu for Pocasset at https://tivertonschools.nutrislice.com/menu/pocasset/lunch/2023-08-29 You will notice 2 areas of the Lunch Menu: Choice 1 is the "hot lunch" choice, and is indicated in the calendar. Choice 1 changes daily. Choice 2 is the "cold lunch" choice, which is found on the upper right hand side. Choice 2 is the same choice all week long. School starts Thursday, August 31st 📚

Our teachers are getting ready for their students! All teachers Grades K - 5, special educators and reading specialists are participating in Volume 2 LETRS training. This comprehensive professional learning will provide our educators with deep knowledge to be literacy and language experts in the science of reading. Our very own LETRS specialists - Ginny Curtis, Beth Kilborn, Susan Cardoza and Jill Godbout - are conducting the training over the next two days!

Our TPS teacher assistants and Pre K teams are busy over the next two days participating in Safety Care. Safety Care provides our staff with trauma-informed care-compatible strategies for preventing and managing behavioral challenges by using evidence-based and practical techniques from Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS)! Shout out to our own TPS trainers Melynda Antunes and Amanda Rose!

Last night Pocasset hosted their annual Welcome Back to School Family PlayDate. We also handed out backpacks, lunch boxes and school supplies to all who attended. Many thanks to our community partners the Tiverton Police Department, Tiverton Prevention Coalition, and Bally’s of Tiverton for donating supplies for over 100 Pocasset Families !
