Welcome to the Tiverton Public School System
2024–2025 School Year

Superintendent's Message

Dear Tiverton Community,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 2024-2025 school year. I am extremely proud of the continued improvements and achievements within the Tiverton Public Schools. These accomplishments are the result of our dedicated school committee, staff, and parent community, all of whom have worked tirelessly to support our students by setting high expectations.

Recently, the Tiverton Public Schools received several accolades:

  • Niche ranked Tiverton among the best school districts in Rhode Island, with all five schools receiving high grades.

  • U.S. News and World Report recognized 4 out of our 5 schools as top schools.

  • Tiverton received an impressive accreditation report from NEASC, which can be found on our website.

  • Tiverton High School achieved a 99% graduation rate for the Class of 2024, one of the highest in the state.

As we embark on this new school year, we are presented with opportunities for new beginnings, technologies, and courses. While we are proud of our past achievements, we are ready to build on this success. Here are some key initiatives and accomplishments that will help us continue our exceptional work:

  • Staffing: Due to budget constraints and a smaller student population, our staff has been reduced from last year. However, the remaining staff is well-trained and supported with top curriculums and technology, ensuring they can deliver outstanding education.

  • Technology: The 1:1 laptop program is now available for students in grades K–12. Additionally, we have added several new online classes to our curriculum offerings.

  • Facilities: Tiverton High School now has a brand-new locker room and fitness center, which will enhance both our course offerings and after-school athletic training. Across the district, all schools have been thoroughly cleaned by our dedicated facilities and maintenance team. I want to extend my sincere thanks to our custodial staff for their hard work in upgrading the appearance of our schools.

  • Parental Involvement: The district will continue to offer a software portal (ASPEN) that allows parents to access their student’s grades online. All teachers have also created online web pages on Google, where parents can familiarize themselves with course content, homework, and classroom expectations. In addition, each school has a School Improvement Team that is looking for parental involvement. Principals will be sending out information on that Team. The District has a Parent Advisory Council, you can look for information on how to join that Committee in the coming weeks.

  • Professional Development: Full days of professional development are scheduled for:

    • September 10th

    • November 5th

    • January 17th
(There is no school on these days.)

  • District Strategic Plan: The District Strategic Plan is available here.

  • Free/Reduced Lunch: The Free/Reduced Lunch application is now available. Please use this link to apply today.

We also offer programs that support our students and families outside of regular school hours:

  • Early Risers Before School Program: This program is available to all Fort Barton, Pocasset, Ranger, and TMS students for a nominal fee. It allows families to drop off students any time after 6:45 AM. The Early Risers Program provides a fun and friendly environment for students to socialize through crafting and other activities. For more information and to register, visit our website here. Early registration is crucial for planning purposes, and we appreciate your timely response. For any questions, please contact Ms. Christine Giannini at cgiannini@tivertonschools.org.

  • Beyond the Bell After School Program: Formerly known as Tiger Cubs, this after-school care program is available at Pocasset and Ranger for all students in grades K-8. As with the Early Risers Program, timely registration is essential for planning. For more information and to register, visit our website here. For any questions, please contact Ms. Christine Giannini at cgiannini@tivertonschools.org

We can be proud of what we have achieved in our classrooms, offices, playing fields, and stages. Our success comes not from complacency but from a shared commitment to doing what is best for our students. As we move forward, I pledge to work towards an even more successful school community. Our greatest natural resource is the minds of our children, and together, we will strive to prepare them for their bright futures.

Sincerely,
Peter Sanchioni, PH.D.
