Updates and Information

Dear Tiverton Parents and Guardians,

I trust this message finds you in good health and spirits. I am reaching out to provide a crucial update regarding our ongoing efforts to maintain a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff.

Regrettably, we have observed an increase in the number of students contracting COVID-19 across all our schools. In light of this, it is imperative that we collectively adhere to the guidelines outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Your cooperation in this matter is crucial for the well-being of our entire school community.

As a reminder, the CDC recommends the following protocols for individuals testing positive for COVID-19:

Isolation Period: Regardless of vaccination status, anyone testing positive should stay home and isolate for a minimum of 5 days.

• Return to School: Students may return to school on day 6 if they are symptom-free or if their symptoms are improving. Additionally, they must be fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.

• Mask Usage: During days 6-10 of the isolation period, students should wear a well-fitting mask at school, during all school-related activities, and at events. Masks should also be worn outside of school when in the company of others, especially indoors.

• Test-Based Strategy: If opting for the "test-based strategy" to shorten the isolation period, students must have already isolated for 5 days, present two consecutive negative antigen tests taken 48 hours apart (with the first test on day 6 at the earliest), and be fever-free for at least 24 hours with improving symptoms.

While we rely on the honor system for parents to follow these guidelines, it is crucial to underscore the significance of your cooperation in preventing a widespread outbreak and ensuring the safety of all students and staff.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to the well-being of our school community. Together, we can navigate these challenging times and prioritize the health and safety of all.
