Developing, supporting and continually improving the effectiveness of our educators is the basis for the Tiverton School Department's coordinated professional learning, common planning, and feedback to educators.
Our district has a standing committee, made up of teachers and administrators, which focuses on professional learning. This committee surveys, listens, and responds to colleagues by developing and coordinating professional learning opportunities that address teachers' areas of interest/need, the advancement of student learning, and the focus areas of the district strategic plan and our five school improvement plans.
For the 2017-18 school year, Tiverton has three district-wide days of professional development. In addition to these large conference style events, throughout the school year there are meetings of specific departments, grade levels, and specialists meet to learn and plan together. Support to these small groups is provided by district facilitators, grant-funded presenters, and consultants as needed.
