Educator Evaluation

The Tiverton School Department values our employees, and recognizes that everything done in the district supports individual student progress and learning.  The district has highly qualified and certified teachers in all areas, at all schools.

Supporting the work of these teachers is key. Developing, supporting and continuing to improve the effectiveness of our educators is the basis for our professional learning, common planning, and administrators' routine and regular feedback to all educators.  To that end, our district participates in the Rhode Island Model of Educator Evaluation and Support.
This model features routine observation of instruction and relies on multiple measures of teacher effectiveness.  To determine overall educator effectiveness, the Rhode Island Model considers three central components: Professional Practice, Professional Responsibilities, and Student Learning. Student Learning holds the most weight in this evaluation system.
